Your First Chiropractic Session with Doc Kim

You’ve made an appointment for your first chiropractic session. You’re looking forward to it, but maybe you’re also a little nervous or anxious. Will it be painful? How long will it take? What is an adjustment? And what about those popping sounds??

Don’t worry, seeing Doc Kim is a simple process and your chiro session will be over before you know it!

1. Initial Consultation

Doc Kim will ask you questions to learn more about your lifestyle and your medical history. Be ready to share what your symptoms are, what issues you might be having, and what you’re hoping to achieve. Being open about these and your areas of concern will help Doc Kim determine the best treatment for you. It’s not required to have an MRI or xray done beforehand but if you have either of these, you may bring it with you.

2. Chiropractic Exam

Doc Kim will conduct a physical exam, based on your medical history. He’ll ask you to go through a series of simple physical movements in order to evaluate your condition, check your posture, and gauge your mobility issues. He might ask you to turn your neck, or bend down. He’ll also take measurements of your shoulders, and will note if your legs are of unequal length. Wearing comfortable clothes that allow you to easily go through these motions will be a big help.

3. Report of Findings and Proposed Care Plan

Once Doc Kim has finished the chiropractic exam, he’ll discuss with you which parts of your body will benefit from chiropractic care, and the ways that chiropractic can help you to a better quality of life.

4. First Chiropractic Adjustment

And now it’s time for your first chiropractic adjustment. Doc Kim will ask you to lie face down, then he’ll adjust your spine. He’ll also ask you to lie on your side and lastly, on your back, face up.

Here’s when you might hear those popping sounds, that signify gas escaping from your joints. If you had unequal legs, you’ll be happily surprised to see that they’ve improved.

It’s normal to feel a slight soreness after the adjustment, because your spinal alignment was changed and your ligaments were stretched. Drinking water and other fluids will keep you hydrated and make you recover sooner.

Once you experience the benefits of chiropractic wellness, why not make it a regular part of your health routine?
